Funding

There are a number of ways in which your care can be funded, if you are unsure of what options are available to you please contact us.

Local Authority Funding

The amount that you receive will be determined by an assessment of your care needs. The local authority may decide to fund all or most of your care if they don’t cover the full amount you would need to cover the extra privately.  After that, a decision is to be made as to who will provide the care.  If the Local Authority is to provide the care, they will select a care provider from their framework, and the funding will be paid directly to them.  On the other hand, if you want greater control in who provides the care, the Local Authority provide a Direct Payments scheme, whereby you select a care provider and the Local Authority after the care assessment set a rate that will be paid directly to you, which you then pay to your care provider along with any other funds that are applicable.

Privately Funded Care
If your capital from property or savings is more than £23,250 the local authority will not provide care services. If this is the case you would need to privately fund your care. Where private funding is concerned, we would recommend seeking advice from a financial advisor that specialises in funding care.

Other sources of funding
If you are 65 years or older and are physically or mentally you may qualify for Attendance Allowance. It is paid at 2 different rates, the amount you’d receive would depend on your needs.
After qualifying for Attendance Allowance, you may also be eligible for extra Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction. Your local authority would advise you if you’re entitled to these extra benefits.
